A Winter’s Reprieve – Escape to Florida

It had been a very long time since I have had any kind of vacation. So when a friend invited me to Florida, it was hard to resist. A condo in Bradenton. For as short a visit or as long as I might like. It didn’t take me long to accept this gracious invitation.

First Stop – The New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott Hotel

I booked an early morning flight from LaGuardia Airport in NYC to Sarasota, Florida in late January. Then I booked a hotel room at the New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott Hotel for the night before my flight. An Uber ride to take me to the Hotel. A packed bag. And I was ready to roll.

The Hotel was lovely. Beautifully designed, clean lobby. Modern decor. Complimentary fruit infused water in the lobby. Spacious sitting areas to relax with a laptop or to chat with friends. A perfect place for checking in the night before my flight. A stone’s throw away from LaGuardia Airport, with a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the airport.

And while there is not much of interest to do in the immediate neighborhood, the hotel has a restaurant, gym, spa, business center and gift shop, should you wish to take advantage of any of these.

The Guest Rooms are nice. Comfortable bed. Well-made. Clean sheets. Lovely sitting area with a handsome leather armchair and ottoman. Desk. Large flat screen TV. Other amenities include: Tea/Coffee. Mini-Fridge. Window with view of the airport and/or neighboring streets. I especially like the large, full-length, back-lit mirror. I might suggest the hotel provide water bottles for their guests. When I inquired about this, it was suggested I purchase that in their gift shop. As well, I would have liked to have a shower cap provided along with the complimentary soap and shampoo. That said, the front desk did deliver a complimentary shower cap when I asked them about this.

Bathroom was clean. Shower offered two shower heads with good water pressure. Towels were also clean, white, plentiful and neatly folded.

I had plenty of time to relax, do some work. Make some calls. And settle in for a good night’s sleep. A nice dinner at the Hotel Restaurant completed my stay (see my next post). This is a hotel I have since returned to, and would do so again should I have any more early morning flights out of LaGuardia
